Water District Radio Propagation StudyUtilities (NAICS 221) The ChallengeThe water district for Plainfield, Indiana was looking for alternatives to phone modems for monitoring and control of the district tanks, valves and pump stations. They needed a firm to evaluate the feasibility of using radio communications to fulfill that need. The SolutionFrakes Engineering was hired to perform a site survey and perform field testing with proposed equipment. Our engineers visited each site, gathering GPS data and evaluating the site for available antenna heights. This data was entered into a Terrain Analysis Profile software application. Using this software we generated line of sight profiles and simulation models. Remote sites were re-visited with the proposed radio equipment and field testing was used on a representative sample to verify the results of the computer study. This is just one of many solutions that Frakes Engineering has provided over the years. If you have questions about this or other services that we provide, please feel free to contact us. |
